Systems Administrator Opportunity at Wells, MN Plant

This full time position calls for a detail orientated self-starter that can work independently with little direct supervision, and as part of a team. Excellent troubleshooting, time management, and communication skills are a must. Candidates should be highly skilled with supporting end users and their systems, and have experience with configuring and monitoring server systems in a largely Windows based environment. This position will be based in our Wells, MN office with occasional travel as needed.

The list below covers some of the duties you can expect, but this position is more accurately described as that of a generalist, where you will work on everything from the mundane to the complex as part of a small staff of IT professionals.  The ideal candidate has a solid foundation of relevant skills already, & has the attitude & aptitude that will allow them to easily learn new skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Work with the Director of IT to plan, implement, & maintain Active Directory structure & domain administration
  • Manage end user equipment lifecycle: requirements, procurement, setup, deployment, upgrades, asset tracking, refresh cycles
  • Primary onsite support of Southern MN/Metro area and secondary onsite support of all sites from St. Cloud Northward
  • Primary Help Desk/remote support corporate wide
  • Daily maintenance & problem resolution, operating system patches & software upgrades, & routine hardware configuration
  • Maintain backups of critical network & workstation data
  • User account provisioning in AD & various software systems
  • Server related projects & administration as qualified & delegated
  • Work with other departments to form a solid understanding of their processes, technology needs, & identify areas where technology can improve productivity
  • Provide innovative solutions to challenging technical issues
  • Make recommendations for new equipment & services to purchase
  • Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, VPN issues

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to carry out assigned tasks with a professional demeanor reflected in excellent written & oral communication & listening skills, patience, analytical reasoning & problem-solving abilities
  • Able to accurately scope work, provide detailed status reports & timely escalations
  • Able to communicate technical information verbally & in writing to technical & non-technical users
  • Solid understanding of IP networking protocols such as DNS, DHCP, TCP, UDP & ICMP & how to diagnose related issues
  • Solid understanding of Active Directory operations (DC’s, GPO’s, OU’s, DFS)
  • Experience in the installation, configuration & maintenance of networking hardware including routers, firewalls & switches
  • Experience setting & maintaining policies & rights/security within a Windows server environment
  • Knowledge of information security concepts as it relates to routers, firewalls, VPN, & wireless technologies
  • Working knowledge of one or more scripting methods: VBS, batch, WMI, &/or powershell
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge on Microsoft Office products – being an Excel wizard & able to program in VBA is a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL server, Microsoft Access, or other databases preferred
  • Experience with automated deployment of applications & patches preferred
  • Experience cloning/imaging computers
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: WSUS, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, SharePoint, ActiveSync, Microsoft Dynamics Nav, Backup Exec, VMWare, Hyper-V.

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Certifications preferred, but not required if experience demonstrates abilities
