Prefabrication powering an expansion.
The Greenheck Turner Community Center, an expansion of the existing Greenheck Fieldhouse at DC Everest in Weston, WI, is a 135,000 sq ft facility designed to support year-round sports, wellness, and community events. The state-of-the-art facility features a full-size indoor turf field, walking track, and batting cages and offers a range of youth sports for the community.
Prefabricated walls were used for the building envelope, utilizing an exposed aggregate architectural finish to match the existing structure. Due to the size of the new community center, some of the panels were stacked on top of each other to meet the height requirements of the exterior façade. Wells was involved in the early design stages, ensuring the prefabricated building envelope integrated seamlessly with the steel structure. The early collaboration allowed the team to identify where steel connections were needed for the panels, allowing for efficient installation and avoiding potential construction delays.
The community center has generated significant excitement within the community, becoming a modern hub for athletics and wellness in the Central Wisconsin area.
